The Spiritual Master, Leader of Shariah, the Ideal of Divine Lovers, and seekers of Enternity, Hazrat Pir Syed Rasool Shah Khaki was among the few eminent spiritual figures of the 20th century AD, whose dawa training and spiritual services are a bright chapter in the Islamic history of the subcontinent.

Hazrat Pir Syed Rasool Shah Khaki received the allegiance and caliphate from all of the four Orders (Qadria, Chishtiyya, Naqshbandiyya and Suhrawardia) at the same time. Therefore, he practiced all of these four orders throughout his life.

He traced his lineage back to the family of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)’s grandsons Syed Syed Rasool Shah traced his paternal and maternal lineage back to Hazrat Pir Shah Muhammad Ghaus Lahori, Syed Abdul Wahab Gilani and Hazrat Ghaus-as-Saqlain, Ghaus-ul-Azam Mehboob Subhani Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, Hazrat Imam Al-Maqam, Hazrat Imam Hasan and through Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) to Hazrat Ali Al-Murtaza meets the Lion of God (RA).

Syed Rasul Shah Khaki got three names – one by his grandfather, the other by his father and the last by his mother. His grandfather named him Ghulam Rasul and his father named him Rasul Shah while his mother named him Munawar Shah.

Blessed Birth

He was born on the 9th of Ramdan, Monday, at ‘Zohar’ prayers at a place called Bolaam in Srinagar (Indian held Kashmir).

Fasting for the 21 Days of Ramadan

As it was the sacred month of Ramadan and being an inborn saint of Allah Almight, it is reported, that he did not accept mother feed till the appearance of ‘Shawwal’ moon. It was the first sign of his being a true adorer of Allah Almighty.

Later, we find a series of consecutive spiritual incidents, almost transcendental, related to him that showed that he was one of the mystics and beloved of Allah Almighty.

Later Life

He used to roam around deeply absorbed in his spiritual ecstasy in the valleys of Kashmir during his adolescence. Once there, he met with Peer Shareef-u-din Rafeeqi, the caliph of Peer Maher Ali Shah (R.A). Afterwards, before the partition of sub-continent, he set out on foot through Baramulla to the hills of Murree. There, he paid his respect of to Khawaja Qasim Moharrwi (R.A). After spending some time in his service, he went to Rawalpindi. He stayed there for some time on Kahsmir Road. Then, he intended to visit the shrine of Peer Meher Ali Shah (R.A). During his visit there, he got the spiritual insights about all those predictions of Peer Meher Ali Shah (R.A) that he made to Peer Sahib earlier while accompanying him in his spiritual visits. Later, he went to Amritsar. It was a time when he was leading a life of “Majzoobiyat” (absorbed in the Divine Love and not attentive to material world). While visiting Lahore, he visited the shrine of Hazrat Data Gunj Bakhsh Ali Hajveri (R.A) and Shah Muhammad Ghaus Lahori (R.A). Eventually, he arrived Dhodha and from Dhodha to a small village of Chakwal named Mureed where his shrine is located now.
